Mr Phurbu Tsering, a young Tibetan traditional tailor master, has trained with dedication in the art of Tibetan traditional dress of both religious and non-religious robes for 11 years. He also had many years’ training in modern dress such as jeans and skirts. He is very creative and inventive in every aspect of dress, including robes and garments for statues. He is especially skilled in the regional dress of the three parts of Tibet known as Amdo, Kham and U-tsang.
Phurbu has made over 50 different designs which have spread in the entire society and have received much appreciation and admiration by the public. He is skilled in designing any form of style if an individual wishes to have specific features in a garment.
His specialties are various chupas (traditional Tibetan men’s and women’s dress), upper garments, monastic decoration, monastic robes, statue garments, ritual performance dress, religious hats, ritual boots, victory banners, and modern dress, with passionate attention to fitness and comfort.
